Week 11 Reading Reflection

The biggest surprise from the article was the example of Corning. This was surprising to me and the reason it stood out was because even when they compare it to the current best practices Corning’s approach “seem out of date.” But they still have grown new markets with revolutionary innovations. One part of the reading that was confusing to me was when the article talks about the resources each type of business should receive. If I was able to ask the author two questions, I would ask him, can trying to take a company to a more innovative phase ultimately lead to a downfall? How does a company know what innovation strategy it would most likely succeed in? I would ask these questions because anything can happen in a business while trying to improve it and it would be a good thing to know and understand. There wasn’t anything I disagreed or thought the author was wrong about.
